Developing a True North
In my life, I view my design work as contributing to an inclusive future society where individuals are happier, healthier and better integrated. I ask myself how I might contribute to a harmonious world. More specifically, I think about how to contribute to the advancement of “human intelligence at scale”. That is my personal true north — and it drives the direction of my company, as well. Having a mission like this helps motivate and guide me. Having a true north makes it easier to evaluate projects, objectives and directions, because you can simply ask yourself how well they align with your personal mission. I encourage all designers (and companies) to spend time searching for their true north.
